Updates! Here are a few recent audiobooks I narrated that have received year-end awards and/or significant press attention.
1. The Wars of Reconstruction – this audiobook released way back in January 2014, but it was remembered during awards season, being named “Best Book of the Year” by one of the editors at The Atlantic for their year-end feature. Written by Douglas R. Egerton, it’s a powerful history of Reconstruction and its aftermath through to the present day. I found it to be an illuminating and deeply moving experience.
2. John Quincy Adams: American Visionary – this epic biography of our nation’s sixth president was written by Pulitzer-nominated author Fred Kaplan, was the subject of a recent New Yorker article, and was just named a notable nonfiction book of 2014 by The Washington Post. It was an honor to spend so much time with the writings of this remarkable man and president.
3. Deeply Divided: Racial Politics and Social Movements in Postwar America – The subject of a recent Politico feature story, Doug McAdam and Karina Kloos’ engaging and persuasive analysis of the last 70 years of race and social movements on American politics was an honor and a delight to adapt to audio form. A compelling and important work!
